BSG announces executive board and class council election results

April 18, 2025

On Monday morning, Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) announced the results of its recent executive board and class council elections.

Voting for the executive board and class councils opened after the completion of the presidential and vice presidential elections last week. This is the second year BSG has run two election cycles instead of one.

A total of 270 students voted in the executive board election, which represents about a 14 percent turnout rate. For class council, 207 students voted in the Class of 2028, 153 in the Class of 2027 and 23 in the uncontested elections for the Class of 2026.

On the executive board, Giovanna Parnoff ’28 won chair of student affairs with 38.15 percent of the vote over Lucia Galdamez ’28 and Danielle Hicock ’28. Aidan Aybar ’28 won chair of academic affairs uncontested. Oscar Gonzalez ’28 took chair of facilities and sustainability with 42.96 percent against Sasha Berson ’28 and Danielle Lancaster ’26. Claire Shim ’28 won chair of diversity & inclusion uncontested. Chase Lenk ’26 won chair of the treasury against Jason Sherrick ’28. Tyler McGrath ’28 won charterer uncontested.

For the Class of 2026 council, all members ran uncontested. Timothy Ignacio ’26 won class president, Kaya Patel ’26 won vice president, Emily Campbell ’26 won treasurer and Abi Alvarado ’26 won programming director.

Matteo Cervone ’27 won class president for the Class of 2027 council, beating Ollie Tannahill ’27 and Blake Covert ’27. Richard Lim ’27 and Lucas Ribadeneira ’27 won the vice presidency as a pair uncontested—each serving for one semester while the other studies abroad. Will Minor ’27 won spring treasurer uncontested. Two vacancies—programming director and fall treasurer—were filled at this week’s BSG meeting by Raghad Mohamed ’27 and Franco Ruocco ’27 respectively.

The Class of 2028 elected Matt Brayer ’28 as president over Andy Mugisha ’28, Mishal Alibhai ’28 as vice president over Tamara Gisiger ’28, Luke Purinton ’28 as treasurer over Sherrick and Max Grad ’28 as programming director uncontested.

These election results conclude this spring’s BSG election cycle.

Sasha Berson ’28, Claire Shim ’28, Chase Lenk ’26 and Kaya Patel ’26 are members of the Bowdoin Orient.
