BSG discusses Pub programming and Thanksgiving break airport shuttles

October 30, 2026

Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) met on Wednesday evening in Mills Hall to discuss a strategy update for Jack McGee’s Pub, reverse trick-or-treating assignments and Thanksgiving break shuttle plans.

President Aidan Aybar ’28 began the meeting by welcoming a new member of the general committee, Elizabeth Kent ’28, as the new Residential Life Representative.

“[My goal is to] advocate for the student body and be able to get things from students directly to BSG,” Kent said.

Aybar then turned to the first item on the agenda: student events at the Pub. Currently, the Pub is not hosting many of its usual student events, and BSG members are working to increase social programming.

“Right now, I think it’s best for us to try to gather information so we can be as specific and knowledgeable as possible,” Aybar said.

Special Advisor Giovanna Parnoff ’28 discussed reverse trick-or-treating. Parnoff divided the residential buildings among BSG members to deliver Halloween goodie bags.

The final item on the agenda was continuing a program to provide transportation for students to the airport for Thanksgiving break. BSG sent out a survey to students to determine the demand for this service this year. They plan to move ahead next week once they have collected the survey data.

Afterward, the Facilities and Sustainability committee considered adding lights to areas of campus that are too dark and creating a dining committee to evaluate food waste and options for people with dietary restrictions.

The Diversity and Inclusion committee discussed plans for an event to bring together many Bowdoin affinity groups. This prospective event would most likely take place in Smith Union in February. The committee also proposed an event for students from the South to get to know one another and bond over shared culture.
