FIRST PLACE

This past weekend, the Bowdoin sailing team won the Harman Cup at Maine Maritime Academy. Lucca Antonietti ’29, Yasmine Nee ’29, Noah Reischmann ’29 and Henry Ladd ’29 came in first out of eight teams. The win qualified the Polar Bears for the New England Match Race Championship, which will be held at Corinthian Yacht Club next weekend. Other recent highlights include Shea McGrath ’27 and Eve Cintron ’29 winning the A Division, securing a fourth out of 15th-place finish at the Charles River Invitational. Additionally, Bowdoin earned another fourth-place finish at the Harvard Invitational behind the efforts of Cole Amaral ’28, Cintron, Owen Warren ’28, Ela Murat ’30, Georgia Neaderland ’30 and Charlie Conover ’29.

SWEEP

In the team’s home opener on Wednesday, Bowdoin volleyball (4–2; 0–0 NESCAC) swept the University of Southern Maine (2–6) 3–0. The Polar Bears dominated in the first and third sets, 25–9 and 25–7 respectively, but had to compete with grit in the second, winning 25–23. Zoe Ryu ’29 was the only player to reach double-figure kills for a game-high of 14 with a hitting percentage of 0.522. Gillian Colledge ’29 had six kills while Skye LaMendola ’27 added five to the total. The team will travel for its first NESCAC matches of the season this weekend, facing Connecticut College at 6 p.m. today and Trinity College at noon tomorow.

SHUTOUT

Bowdoin men’s soccer (2–0–2; 0–0–1 NESCAC) held the University of Southern Maine (0–2–3) scoreless in Tuesday’s home win. In the 15th minute, Stefan Zehnacker ’29 took a shot at the USM goalkeeper, which deflected to Masai Gordon ’28, who scored the Polar Bear’s first goal of the contest. Also in the first half, Jack Banks ’27 headed a perfectly placed pass by Keito Ishibashi ’27 into the net, bringing the score to 2-0. The victory marked the Polar Bears’ 17th straight win over the Huskies, bringing the all-time record to 37–4–3 in favor of Bowdoin. Men’s soccer hosts two NESCAC games this weekend, beginning with Wesleyan University on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. then Williams College at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
