Dining halls provide needle disposals
December 10, 2021
Moulton and Thorne Halls will now provide containers for proper needle disposal, according to an email sent by Interim Director of Health Services Sandra Hayes on December 1.
Hayes wrote that the College has seen an increase in improper disposal of needles and medical sharps on campus in the past month, especially in the dish rooms in the dining halls.
“For the safety of everyone in the Bowdoin community, we need to underscore the proper way to manage and dispose of these items,” Hayes wrote.
Hayes outlined the guidelines for proper disposal, which include not throwing needles in the trash and activating the safety devices on needles immediately after use. Additionally, students can acquire sharps disposal containers for their rooms from Health Services at no cost.
