WINTER SPORTS FLURRY
The winter athletic season will be in full swing soon. Competitions begin November 13, headlined by the women’s basketball team facing Nazareth College in the University of New England (UNE) Tip-Off Tournament in Biddeford and the men’s basketball team taking on Thomas College at home. The next day, the women’s basketball team will play again, battling UNE, the host team, on the second day of the Tournament.
MORE MASKING UPDATES
On Wednesday, October 27, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Residential and Student Life and COVID-19 Resource Coordinator Mike Ranen sent an email to the campus community regarding the loosening of certain masking restrictions following the campus’ shift to COVID-19 status level Green. Students are now allowed to remove their masks when entering and exiting or walking through the hallways of athletic facilities such as the Peter Buck Center for Health and Fitness and when exercising alone in an indoor space. However, students and faculty alike, as well as spectators from outside of the College, are expected to remain masked when in the gymnasium for indoor sporting events.
FIELD HOCKEY FLOCKS TO QUARTERFINAL MATCH-UP
Following a 3-1 victory over Tufts University on Wednesday, the field hockey team has secured the third seed in the 2021 NESCAC tournament. In its quarterfinal match-up, the Polar Bears will take on the sixth-seed, Amherst College, at home tomorrow. Last time Bowdoin played Amherst was in September, and the Polar Bears lost by a score of 1-2. However, Bowdoin boasts a 4-0 record against the Mammoths in past NESCAC tournaments.
SOCCER TEAMS KICK IT INTO OVERDRIVE FOR PLAYOFFS
Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams have secured berths to the 2021 NESCAC playoffs, with quarterfinal competitions set to begin tomorrow. The men’s team, seeded sixth in the tournament, will battle third-seeded Tufts in Medford, Massachusetts. The women’s team, after securing the seventh seed, will battle second-seeded Wesleyan in Middletown, Connecticut.
