OFFENSIVE ATTACK: The women’s lacrosse team celebrates a 16–5 win over Endicott College last Sunday. The Polar Bears are hunting to return to the NESCAC tournament after they fell short last season.

The women’s lacrosse team (5–8; 0–8 NESCAC) dropped a hard-fought 12–13 game at Colby College (8–5; 4–5 NESCAC) last Wednesday before rebounding with back-to-back wins over Endicott College (11–4) and Babson College (8–6) to close a tight series of games.

Against Colby, the Polar Bears trailed 2–8 late in the second quarter before roaring back to take a 9–8 lead in the third, ultimately coming up just short as time expired. Midfielder Grace Harvey ’27, who finished the game with a career-high six goals, recounted the team’s comeback.

“[Our defense] caused so many turnovers and came up with so many big ground balls that just generated a bunch of momentum for us in the second and third quarters,” Harvey said.

Harvey noted that the Colby loss reminded her and the team to carry their early-game momentum towards a win.

“We’ve had a lot of close games that we haven’t come out on top of this season,” Harvey said. “We do better when we start strong and get ahead early. Once we pull away, we can just keep going.”

The Polar Bears took that to heart on Sunday against Endicott in what proved to be the team’s most successful performance of the season, rolling to a 16–5 victory at home. The game also served as the team’s Mental Health Awareness game in partnership with The Hidden Opponent—both teams wore green ribbons in support of athlete mental health.

Attacker Miya Imaeda ’26 credited the team’s pregame mentality for the dominant showing.

“We all went into it very composed and having fun,” Imaeda said.“That was something we talked about a lot in the locker room—we know we play better when we’re all having fun and connecting.”

Harvey echoed the shift in energy Imaeda experienced.

“Against Endicott, we came out strong. We were scoring goals; we were coming up with caused turnovers,” Harvey said. “Just doing it all, everyone on the field, all game.”

The team maintained that momentum into Tuesday night against 18th-ranked Babson, as the Polar Bears never trailed and withstood a late rally to secure a 10–9 win. Harvey clinched the game by claiming a draw control with under ten seconds to play. Imaeda led the offense with three goals and an assist.

Grace Schorr ’29, who has recently emerged as one of the team’s most productive offensive contributors, reflected on what made the second straight win feel significant.

“We knew we weren’t gonna walk away without a win, just because we really wanted it,” Schorr said. “We believed, and we saw what we could do against Colby and Endicott—and then we ended up beating Babson.”

The two wins reflect a broader trend the players have identified throughout the stretch run: When the team loosens up, the results follow. Imaeda pointed to that same mentality as the throughline connecting the team’s last two performances.

“[We are] going in composed, ready to fight and having fun. I think this year has been a lot about building that, and our team, my friends, we’re so close-knit,” Imaeda said.

With the postseason out of reach, the team’s focus has turned to channeling its energy into the final games of the season. Schorr described the players’ mindset heading into Senior Day against Tufts University (11–2; 6–2 NESCAC).

“Everything is for the seniors. Just seeing our seniors through and getting them that win. We want to leave everything out on the field and make sure we have no regrets,” Schorr said.

The team hosts Connecticut College (3–9; 0–8 NESCAC) on Saturday at noon and will play its last regular season game against Tufts this Wednesday at 7 p.m.
