STRIKE ‘EM OUT

Last weekend, the softball team (19–4; 5–3 NESCAC) took three out of four home games, including handing Tufts University (17–5; 6–2 NESCAC) its first conference loss of the season. After dropping the first game to the Jumbos 10–2, the Polar Bears consistently scored in the second game, beginning with a Maddie Paschke ’28 single to score Anika Ewert ’26 in the first inning. Margaret Flannery-Goodman ’29 had four runs batted in to lead the team to a 9–1 win. When playing against Bates College (9–12; 1–5 NESCAC), the Polar Bears won the first game 4–1 and the second game 12–6 thanks to an eight-run second inning, including a Sammie Wright ’29 three-run home run. The team will play on the road versus Middlebury College (20–2; 4–0 NESCAC) today and Williams College (12–8; 2–0 NESCAC) tomorrow.

HOLE IN ONE

The men’s golf team had a record-setting weekend at the Bantams-Hawks Spring Invitational, posting a two-day total of 573 to place second overall. Henry Mariscal ’28 shot 68 on the first day, followed by a 70 to finish at -2 and third place individually. Matthew Cohen ’27 tied for 13th, and Kaiden Hong ’29 was two shots behind in 17th. Adam Eskin ’28 and Joey Zheng ’27 were the final two Polar Bears. The team will travel to Skidmore College this weekend to compete in the Tim Brown Invitational.

ALL ABOARD

Last weekend, the sailing team competed at three events throughout the New England region, with the best results coming from the Emily Wick Trophy at Connecticut College. The women’s fleet finished in first place out of fifteen boats, captained by Lauren Russler ’26, Kaile Olson ’27 and Posie Cabaniss ’27. Rebecca Schill ’27 and Maggie Tripp ’29 sailed in the B division. A handful of sailors went to the Mystic Lake Team Race at Tufts University, finishing in sixth place overall. Another group traveled to the Open Team Race Champs at Brown University, posting strong wins over Yale University and the Coast Guard Academy. The team has three more competitions this weekend across the region.
