Highlight Reel for September 27

F THE EPHS

The men’s golf team competed at the annual Williams College Invitational hosted at the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Mass. Overall, the team finished in third place, its best ever finish at the event with a team total score of 605, falling ever so slightly behind Middlebury College (599) and Gustavus Adolphus College (590). Andrew Flynn ’27 and Joey Zheng ’27 tied for eighth place with scores of 149, followed closely by Matthew Cohen ’27 in 20th place and Henry Mariscal ’28 in 41st place. Ian Harris ’27 completed the invitational with a 67th place finish. This weekend, the Polar Bears are set to host their home opener, the Bowdoin Invitational, at Brunswick Golf Club.

FULL SAIL AHEAD

The sailing team recently completed a busy weekend of regattas with different contingents of the team sailing at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth College, the Eagle Invite hosted by Boston College, the Hoyt Trophy at Brown University and the Hood Trophy at Tufts University. At the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, the team placed 13th overall, with Rebecca Schill ’27 and Lulu Louchheim ’25 competing in the A division while Sophie Brett ’25, Maizie Bartlett ’27 and Mairéad Ritzel ’28 sailed in the B division. Over at the Eagle Invite, the Polar Bears finished fifth overall—with Hazel Johnson ’27 and Ben Stevens ’25 finishing in third on their own. Over at the Hoyt Trophy, Thomas Hall ’25 and Hollis Hirsch ’25 competed in the A division, winning the last two races of the regatta while Sam Bonauto ’25 and Timmy Gee ’25 worked in the B division. Finally, the Polar Bears finished in ninth place at Tufts with Ethan Danielson ’26 and Posie Cabaniss ’27 sailing in division A and Michelangelo Vecchio ’27 and Elizabeth Wire ’28 in B.

SPIKE IT TO MAINE

The women’s volleyball team (7–3; 0–1 NESCAC) played two matches on Saturday, falling to Wesleyan College (5–4; 1–1 NESCAC) 3–1 but ultimately picking themselves up to win over Maine Maritime Academy (4–7) 3–0. The Polar Bears put up some notable performances with Skye LaMendola ’27 and Alison Smith ’28 completing ten kills apiece and Hayley Campau ’27 securing four blocks for the team. Finally, Cameron Shelley ’27 had 18 assists, and Paige Butler ’28 completed the game with 11. The team faces Colby College (9–1; 1–1 NESCAC) this evening at 7 p.m. in Morrell Gymnasium.
