OPINION: Electing Joe Biden has never been more urgent

September 25, 2020

To the Editor:

I write to express my deep approval of last week’s op-ed, written by my classmate, Alexander Banbury ’20. Now, with the passing of Justice Ginsburg and the intensification of the climate crisis, the call for electing Joe Biden has never been more urgent. Four more years of President Trump will do irreparable harm to the world, the nation and, perhaps most importantly, to our citizens. I ask any member of the Bowdoin community who still has misgivings about Vice President Biden to think for a moment about the immigrants, international students, women, minorities and LGBT individuals they know. Their lives will be significantly better under the compassionate and competent leadership of a Democratic administration. Use your privilege and vote for their interests as well as your own. If you have the means, donate. If you have the time, volunteer. Encourage others to do the same. The stakes could not be higher.

Sincerely,

Artur Kalandarov ’20
