In its first meet of the outdoor season, the track team put on a show at the non-scoring Santa Barbara Easter Relays in California.

For the women, Michele Kaufman '13 won the 100-meter hurdles (15.76) and Katherine Harmon '14 came in first in the hammer throw (43.51 meters).

There were numerous second-place finishes as well, coming from Anna Ackerman '12 in the 3000-meter steeplechase (11:29.55), Laura Peterson '12 in the triple jump (0.78 meters), and Bowdoin's, 4x200-meter (1:49.32) and distance medley relays (12:45.89).

Additionally, Maggie Bryan '15, Alana Menendez '15, Madelena Rizzo '14, and Michelle Lawson '12 came in second for the 4x800-meter race (10:00.02).

Elsa Millett '12, Emily Barr '12, Samantha Copland '14, and Bryan also come in second for the 4x200 meter race (1:49.32). The relay team of Ackerman, Bryan, Rizzo, and Millet also came in second for the women's distance medley relay (12:45.89).

On the men's side, captain Riker Wikoff '12 came in first in the 400-meter hurdles (54.88), posting the fifth-best time in program history.

Two more victories came from the 4x800 meter relay team of Colin Fong '12, captain Colin Ogilvie '12, Christian Sleeper '15, and Nicholas Saba '14 (8:04.23) and the distance medley relay squad of Ogilve, Matt Gamache '13, Fong, and Saba (10:37.62). Mason Moss '12 finished second (55.15 meters) in the javelin.

"Mason is one of the best javelin throwers in New England," wrote Head Coach Peter Slovenski in an email to the Orient. "You have to save your arm in the javelin, and Mason uses his speed and body very well."

The team's next competition is at the Middlebury Invitational on April 7.

"We'll need to step up our efforts in some of the outdoor events, such as the steeplechase, the 10K, discus, javelin, and 4x100 relay," wrote Slovenski.
