Highlight Reel for April 24

VICTORIOUS

Last Saturday afternoon, the women’s lacrosse team (6–9; 1–9 NESCAC) took down Connecticut College (3–10; 0–9 NESCAC) on its Senior Day. The Polar Bear offense was firing on all cylinders from the opening faceoff, scoring the first six goals of the game. Coming out of halftime with a 7–3 lead, the team surged again to take a 12–5 lead in the fourth quarter, before finishing with a final score of 13–9. A duo of seniors scored multiple goals on their day, including Miya Imaeda ’26 with two goals and two assists, and Ellie Fabbro ’26 with two goals and one assist. The Polar Bears finished off their season with a midweek game versus Tufts University (13–2; 8–2 NESCAC), losing 14–11.

ANOTHER ONE

Last Saturday, the track and field teams competed in the Maine State Championship at Bates College with many strong results. The men’s 4×100 relay team broke a program record with a time of 41.10 seconds, a group consisting of Kane Demers ’26, Ronan O’Flaherty ’27, Noah Rockey ’27 and Lorenzo Shields ’29. O’Flaherty also won the 200m race, and Rockey broke his own school record in the 400m. For the women’s team, Lex Davis ’26 took second in the 1500m, Isabella Ornelas ’28 was the runner-up in the 3000m steeplechase and Sophie Maguire ’26 placed second in the pole vault. The teams will compete at the NESCAC Championships this weekend at Williams College.

BIRDIES ALL AROUND

Last weekend, the women’s golf team finished its regular season with a second-place finish at the Northeast Invitational. After the first day, the Polar Bears were in sixth place with a combined score of +18, but a consistent second day propelled them to the podium finish. Katie Ng ’28 and Emily Renoff ’28 tied for eighth place individually with a score of +7 each. Isabella Salerno ’29 shot +9 to finish in 13th place, and Shivani Schmulen ’26 finished with +11 tied for 19th place. The team has a weekend off before traveling to the NESCAC Championships, hosted by Williams College, from May 1 through May 3.
