Chow Maine: Flipside’s fresh ingredients make it Midcoast’s best pizza
In one of my first articles, I dethroned The Cabin, in Bath, from its widely accepted position as the best pizza joint in mid-coast Maine. While it has its charm, the pizza at the Cabin is certainly nothing to write home about. It seems only fitting then, that in my last article I offer up an alternative for Bowdoin's pizza-lovers. In the search for the perfect pizza pie, Brunswick's Flipside delivers (figuratively speaking).

Chow Maine: Local restaurant openings herald great summer fare
For a town of Brunswick's size there is certainly no shortage of dining options. Some of the best, and most unique, establishments though are only just beginning to open for the summer season. I did some sleuthing to find the opening days of a few of my local favorites. These eateries are not only delicious, but also economical. And luckily, we don't have long to wait.

Chow Maine: Poor service drowns out tasty food at 10 Water
What do dinner at No. 10 Water and my recent government midterm have in common? Both are experiences that I hope not to repeat in the near future. No. 10 Water is the restaurant of the Captain Daniel Stone Inn, located on Water Street in Brunswick. I want to avoid a quick condemnation of 10 Water as I have certainly experienced a few successes there.

Chow Maine: Figa offers a promising experience
Portland, named "America's Foodiest Small Town", has no shortage of great restaurants to choose from. Still, I rarely stray from the small list of my favorites and find myself recommending the same restaurants. My efforts to branch out landed me at Figa, whose chefs draws inspiration from a number of cuisines—Greek, Brazilian and Indian, especially. Figa's menu manages to be eclectic and harmonious at once.

Chow Maine: Finding the edible senior seven
Senior spring is something every Bowdoin student seems to look forward to. It's not all fun and games though—there is a lot to accomplish and take advantage of in the last semester of Bowdoin. Naturally, my bucket list involves several food-related items. I have already shared with you some of my absolute favorites—the dal makhani at Shere Punjab and the Rose Begonia at Scarlet Bs, for example. There are several more "hidden gems" that, in my opinion, don't get the credit or notice they deserve. The following list contains a few of these little known treats, as well as a few food experiences I think ought not be missed in four years at Bowdoin.

Chow Maine: Diners in Bruswick hit or miss, but still worth a visit
One of the biggest blessings of my college career has been that, after a night of revelry (always moderated and safe—don't worry, Randy!), I never get hungover. What I get instead is hungry. And, after four years of the (albeit delicious) same ol' same ol' at Thorne brunch, I've started to branch out a bit more in my morning-after munchfest. Brunswick offers several options for brunch on the weekends, some more formal, such as the family-style afternoon meal at Trattoria Athena and some that offer just the basics, like Broadway Delicatessan. This weekend I checked out two restaurants, both very economical, that are worth at least one visit in your four years at Bowdoin.

Chow Maine: Henry and Marty lacks consistency, misses the mark
In my last installment I sent you to Local 188, a cool bar/restaurant hybrid in Portland frequented by 20-somethings and my mom. This week, I'm sticking closer to home with a classic Brunswick dining locale that is admittedly much less cool. Henry and Marty has been a staple in Brunswick for many years, offering a slightly more sophisticated menu than many of its neighbors. I have had the occasion to eat there a number of times, and have had many enjoyable meals. I recently revisited Henry and Marty and experienced some major ups and downs. Henry and Marty is, in a word

Chow Maine: Local 188 in Portland for the 'hip, young and cool'
Recently, I was having some trouble choosing a restaurant for a dinner out in Portland and, after a few days of brainstorming, was forced to use my phone-a-friend option.

Chow Maine: Restaurant Review: Staking out Frontier
Chances are, unless you are a first year, you have probably eaten at least once at Frontier Café, located in Fort Andross. If you haven't, you are missing out.

Chow Maine: The parents are coming: a review of local restaurant favorites
Parents Weekend is approaching, meaning you need to clean your room, get rid of all those Coors Light cans, and make some dinner reservations. The weekend is a great chance to try some local restaurants and have your parents foot the bill. Here are a few suggestions in Brunswick and farther afield for you to check out next weekend. Make sure you make reservations as these places tend to be very crowded.

Chow Maine: Review: The Cabin's pizza disappoints
In the search for a perfect pizza pie, The Cabin falls short. The restaurant, located in Bath, is a locally revered pizza joint that many consider the best around.

Chow Maine: Shere Punjab is sheer genius: Indian cuisine on Maine St.
This article was originally conceived as a showdown between Maine Street's two Indian eateries, Shere Punjab and Bombay Mahal.
