Letter to the Reader: An update on the Editorial
January 24, 2025
Dear reader,
Every week, a handful of Orient writers and editors gather as the Editorial Board to write an opinion piece on an aspect of campus or community news. While we are proud of the work we have published, we have decided to move away from this rigid weekly schedule of Editorials. Moving forward, we will publish a minimum of two Editorials every four issues.
With the rationale of quality over quantity in mind, we believe this structure will give us the time to publish well-researched Editorials we are passionate about. Using a quota system as opposed to a set weekly schedule will give us the flexibility to address important issues no matter when they arise and will allow us to exceed the minimum on those months when we are feeling especially opinionated. With this change, we hope that our Editorials will continue to reflect the thought and care the Orient staff brings to this paper.
All our best,
Kristen Kinzler and Vaughn Vial
Editors-in-Chief
