ACED THE DAY
Women’s tennis opened its season at the MIT Invitational with numerous top results. Caroline Stuhlfaut ’27 advanced to the singles semifinals after a win against Tufts University (6–4, 6–0), Amherst College (6–3, 7–5) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (7–5, 7–6, 10–4), ultimately bowing out against Tufts with final scores of 6–2 and 7–6 in the semifinals. In doubles, Jamilah Karah ’25 and Isabella Hartung ’28 advanced all the way to the finals and secured second place in the doubles division by winning against Tufts (8–7), MIT (8–5) and falling to Amherst (8–5). Candice Ballarin ’25 took home the Sportsmanship Award from the weekend. The Polar Bears are hosting the New England Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Competition this weekend.
DRIVE RIGHT IN
The men’s golf team ventured to Middlebury, Vt., where it placed tenth out of 23 collegiate teams at the Duke Nelson Invitational Weekend hosted by Middlebury College this past weekend. The Polar Bears ended the weekend with a final score of 610. Matthew Cohen ’27 led the way for the team, finishing in 22nd place and individually carding a 76–75–151 score over two days. Ian Harris ’27 finished close behind Cohen (76–76–152), coming in 27th overall, and Andrew Flynn ’27 ended the two-day competition in 40th place (76-78-154). Finally, Oscar Wen ’25 and Jack Barned ’26 rounded out the Polar Bears with a tie for 63rd place. This weekend, the team will play in the Williams College Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club.
TRIO-ED FOR A WIN
The field hockey team (3–2–0; 1–1–0 NESCAC) logged its third win of the season against out-of-conference Wellesley College (3–3–0) with a final score of 3–0. The first of the three goals scored by the Polar Bears occurred in the third minute of play by Mackay Bommer ’26 followed by Emily Ferguson ’27, who assisted Maya Malenfant ’25 to make the second and third goals of the game all just six minutes into the second quarter. Lauren O’Donald ’26 also made two saves, keeping the Polar Bears ahead of Wellesley by three for the remainder of the game. The Polar Bears look towards playing Bates College (3–1–0; 1–0–0 NESCAC) in Lewiston on September 24.
