Lisa Rendall to retire at end of year

May 1, 2026

Director of Residential and Housing Operations Lisa Rendall will retire this summer after 28 years of working at the College. Since 1998, Rendall has worked in the Office of Residential Life (ResLife), fostering relationships with students and staff.

Rendall oversees all housing-related matters, such as the housing lottery, first-year  room assignments and interim housing. She also facilitates communication between students and campus offices, such as facilities management and housekeeping. Proctor Ashley Morash ’26 expressed gratitude for Rendall’s knowledge and guidance.

“[Rendall] has always had a helpful answer to all of my housing questions, and I appreciate the many ways she has supported me in my role as a proctor. I wish her the best with her well-deserved retirement,” Morash wrote in an email to the Orient.

A new Director of Residential and Housing Operations has been hired and is currently training under Rendall ahead of her scheduled last day this summer. Senior Vice President and Dean for Student Affairs Jim Hoppe expressed confidence in the newcomer.

“We are fortunate to have somebody who is going to start with a lot of great skills and a lot of ability to learn lessons from [Rendall], and then also take it into the next direction,” Hoppe said.

Ahead of the arrival of a new director of residential and housing operations, Chrissy Francis ’26, the current proctor of Boody-Johnson House, reminisced on the work done by Rendall and the impression she made on the community.

“I truly feel so lucky to have been one of the people who got to interact with [Rendall] beyond emails. People like her aren’t easy to come by, so I know she will be missed deeply here, even by those who may not realize just how much of a difference she’s made,” Francis said.
