College appoints new director of institutional equality and compliance

April 15, 2022

In an email to the campus community, Vice President and Interim Chief Diversity Officer Benje Douglas announced that the College has appointed Kate O’Grady as the College’s first director of institutional equality and compliance. O’Grady, the current associate dean of student affairs and community standards, as well as the deputy Title IX coordinator, will transition to the new role on July 1.

As director of institutional equality and compliance, O’Grady will serve as the institutional Title IX coordinator, where she will manage campus Title IX policy and work closely with Megan Hart, the Legal Officer and Assistant Secretary of the College, to respond to reported discrimination on campus. In her new role, O’Grady, a former law clerk for both the Superior Court of Maine and the Federal District Court of Maine, will draw upon her prior experience—both in law and at the College.

“I have worked closely with Kate for several years and have witnessed just how well she does her work,” Douglas wrote. “She is thoughtful, diligent, fair and compassionate.”
