To our readers:

In the three years we have spent working on the Orient, the two of us have seen many opinions printed in these pages. A crucial aspect of any newspaper, the opinion section showcases the perspectives of students, staff, faculty and community members. Some of our proudest moments have been sharing a range of viewpoints about campus, current events and more with our readers.

In the form of the Editorial, our own staff have also had the opportunity to share their opinions, working collaboratively each week to produce their own piece reflective of a broader issue on campus. We value the Editorial and the avenue it provides The Orient to share our thoughts and highlight important topics in our community.

This year, we have decided to reduce our Editorial publishing schedule to every other week. Both the structure of our staff and length of our production cycle have led us to make this choice. Our ultimate goal in reducing Editorial publications is to prioritize quality over quantity. We are hesitant to force ourselves to craft an opinion simply because we have to, not because it is something we feel strongly about. In reducing the number of Editorials, we can ensure that we are sharing a viewpoint that truly reflects the thought and care that we put into the paper and the opinions we share.
