On Wednesday, the Dining Service began its plan to offer express lunches at Jack Magee's Pub and Grill. The new option resulted from vocalized student interest and support from the administration.

"We wanted to provide another option to alleviate the long Express line at Moulton Union," said Director of the Dining Service Mary Kennedy.

Between 11:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., students will be able to use their meal plan to order off of a limited menu of items usually offered at the pub.

Current choices include a chicken or grilled vegetable Caesar salad wrap, a pepperoni focaccia pizza, and a chicken parmesan sub. Chips, an apple, a cookie, and a cup of soda are included with the bag lunch.

"The production space is tiny, so in order to keep up with the volume, we have to keep the menu quite compact," said Kennedy. "We'll focus on a few items that we can produce very well."

In order to offer bag lunches, the Dining Service had to modify the pub's kitchen and hire an additional staff member.

Kennedy expressed the Dining Service's desire to implement the change immediately and then gradually accommodate students' responses.

"It's going to take some time to get feedback from the students and make adjustments in our service methods," she said. "But right now, our first goal is to get the system down so that it can be fast and effective."
