The start of Bowdoin's squash season yielded mixed results at Dartmouth two weeks ago with the men's team splitting a pair of matches and the women dropping two.

The men's team trounced the Hamilton Continentals 9-0 before falling to the seventh-ranked Dartmouth Big Green by an equally decisive margin of 9-0 later in the weekend.

The women's team opened its season with an 8-1 loss to Hamilton before being shut out by the home team 9-0.

The win leaves the Bowdoin men ranked No. 15. The women's team is ranked No. 21.

In the men's shutout victory over Hamilton, Andy Bernard '11, William Fantini '13 and Stephan Danyluk '14, took home 3-0 victories for Bowdoin in the number one, two and three slots, respectively.

Lauren Gesswein '11 won the women's team's sole victory of the weekend against Amanda Thorman of Hamilton in the number-one slot.

Though she did not win her match in the number-two slot, Monica Woldarczyk '13 fiercely contested her 3-1 loss against Claire Corroon '13 of Hamilton.

"For the women, the line-up was a tough one, having to face an A-bracket team (Dartmouth) and a solid B-bracket team (Hamilton)," said Gesswein. "Though we were defeated by both opponents, the experience was helpful to pinpoint where progress needed to be made."

Both the men's and women's squash teams will next take the court tomorrow at Trinity College, home of the legendary Bantams, to play against the Vassar College Brewers and George Washington University Colonials.
