The sailing team more than held its own in two events this past weekend.

At the Great Herring Pond Open, the coed team came in seventh out of 17 teams with a total score of 121 points.

"Our top coed [boat] had the weekend off, but we had a pretty good weekend at Mass. Maritime with a young team," wrote Head Coach Frank Pizzo in an email to the Orient.

"We could have been fourth if not for a protest that went against the Polar Bears in A division," wrote Pizzo.

The Polar Bears finished in fifth place, with a total of 50 points at the 13-team Lark Invitational at Tufts University.

The women's team traveled down to Yale for the Women's Intersectional, but the regatta was canceled due to extremely windy and wavy conditions.

A string of impressive performances has left Bowdoin nationally-ranked.

"Our women's team is currently ranked 14th in the country, and our coed team just missed out on being in the top 20," said Pizzo.

Currently, the team is preparing for the New England Championships, hosted by Harvard and MIT. It has a few big events before then, including five more regattas this weekend.
