The baseball team (9–5; 0–0 NESCAC) split a doubleheader against reigning NESCAC champs Middlebury College (11–4; 0–0 NESCAC) last weekend. Due to weather and field conditions, the teams met at University of Massachusetts (UMass) Boston on Sunday.
The Nordic skiing team placed sixth out of 11 teams last weekend at the Williams Carnival in Woodford, Vt., and will travel to Lake Placid, N.Y., this weekend to compete at Regionals, hosted by St. Lawrence University.
The Steller’s sea eagle is back, and people from all over the country are lining Midcoast Maine’s rural roads and bridges—armed with scopes and cameras—in hopes of catching a glimpse of this rare bird.
Attracting throngs of people, the Steller’s sea eagle, a black and white bird native to Eastern Russia, was spotted roosting in pines north of the Route 127 Back River Bridge between Arrowsic and Georgetown on Saturday.
In a full squad effort, the women’s track and field team won the Maine State Championship for the first time in 10 years. Hosted at Bates College, Bowdoin placed first out of eight teams, including rivals Bates and Colby College, to claim the title last Saturday.
Last weekend, the men’s and women’s cross country teams kicked off their seasons with the Colby, Bates and Bowdoin (CBB) Wave Races at Pineland Farms. The meet, against rivals Bates and Colby, was the runners’ first chance to compete after intense preseason training and served as a motivator for their upcoming home invitational.
Captain Donal Mullane ’21 has been instrumental in the men’s lacrosse team’s unprecedented success this spring. The attacker tied the school record for points per game (11) in a midweek matchup with Clark University and then beat the record with six goals and six assists in a game against Connecticut College.
On Friday, the audience for Masque and Gown’s One Act Play Festival filled all eighty folding chairs in the Drake Lobby of Pickard Theater, with an overflow audience watching from the balcony.
“I was really excited that so many people came,” said Sinclaire Ledahl ’23, Masque and Gown’s artistic director.
Charlie Pyne ’22 is a senior on the men’s lacrosse team, but he has only played one season. He wasn’t injured, he didn’t ride the bench and he didn’t take time off. Pyne just belongs to one of the few teams on campus that has not played a game since March 2020.
