I write to urge Bowdoin students and Mainers to continue to hold Maine Senator Susan Collins accountable. Last week, Collins and Senate Republicans voted to repeal anti-forced arbitration rules, a practice wherein everyday consumers are required to waive their rights to class-action lawsuits and other means of accessing the courts, and instead are forced to settle their grievances with large companies through private arbitration.
As students flock to the Brunswick Quad and Farley Field House in celebration of Ivies this weekend, members of the Office of Safety and Security will follow—and among them will be officer Sonny Toscano.
A New Jersey native, Toscano has been working at the College for a little over three years.
Irfan Alam – President Candidate
Hi! My name is Irfan Alam and I am running for BSG President alongside Ben Painter as my VP. I currently serve as the Chair of the Treasury on the executive committee, and have previously served as an At-Large Representative to the SAFC and a member of the SOOC.
International students face unique difficulties at Bowdoin, which enrolls the fewest non US citizens in the NESCAC, such as navigating career opportunities, advisors and campus resources that don’t fully understand their experiences and a foreign social culture.
Director of Religious and Spiritual Life Bob Ives ’69 will retire at the end of the year. A beloved campus figure, Ives taught classes and supported Bowdoin’s student faith groups as well as individual students working on navigating their faith and spiritual life at the College.
