Highlight Reel for November 6

November 6, 2026

RUTHLESS RUGBY

On Saturday, the women’s rugby team (3–3) beat the University of New England Nor’easters (3–1–2) in back-to-back friendly 10s matches 29–0 and 20–0, respectively. The pair of impressive wins was made more special by the weekend’s Senior Day celebrations, honoring the team’s 11 senior ruggers—many of whom got the chance to shine during Saturday’s wins. Women’s rugby will host Princeton University (6–1) tomorrow to wrap up the regular season with another friendly match. The team will then compete in the NIRA DII semifinals versus Frostburg State (4–3) next Sunday in Frostburg, Md.

HARDWORKING BEARS

At the NESCAC Cross Country Championships, the men’s cross country team took seventh place while the women’s team came in eighth. The gritty races allowed some Polar Bears to put up impressive individual performances. Matthew Servin ’27 led the men’s team by coming in 14th place overall with a time of 25:12.5, followed by Oliver Brandes ’27 (42nd) and Seamus McDonough ’27 (48th). Laura White ’29, Kaylee Hale ’28 and Francine Miller ’27 placed 30th, 38th and 39th respectively in the women’s races. The women’s top five finished within 37 seconds of one another, with Gwen Purnell ’29 and Cam Meyer ’28 rounding out the quintet. Next up, the men’s and women’s teams will compete at the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday, November 14 in South Portland, Maine.

CBB KICKOFF

The football team (0–7; 0–7 NESCAC) looks to play its penultimate game of the season at Bates College (0–7; 0–7 NESCAC) this Saturday at 1 p.m. Both teams are entering the contest winless, with Bates having lost to Colby College (1–6; 1–6 NESCAC) last Saturday. A win this Saturday for the Polar Bears would set up a winner-takes-all rivalry game versus Colby at home on Saturday, November 14. Colby currently holds the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin (CBB) trophy. The Polar Bears last held the trophy in 2023 but will have the chance to reclaim the hardware and glory with victories in the final two games of the season.
