BSG moves forward with Ivies planning and discusses upcoming elections

March 27, 2026

On Wednesday evening, Bowdoin Student Government (BSG) met in the Mills Hall event space to discuss upcoming BSG elections and planning for Bowdoin’s Ivies weekend, including various food truck options, event hosts (E-hosts) and cleanup protocol.

BSG announced that upcoming elections will take place in two separate rounds, with the first election for the positions of president, vice president, charterer and treasurer, followed by a second election for committee chairs and class councils. On April 1, the Orient will host a debate for the presidential and vice presidential candidates in Jack Magee’s Pub, and the first round of voting will begin the following day.

The council then discussed food trucks for Ivies weekend. Out of 13 options, BSG voted to hire  Taco the Town, Crispy Gài, Cargo Pizza, Mr. Tuna, Falafel Mafia and Bizibuns to cater Ivies events.

BSG then addressed recruiting E-hosts and a functioning cleanup crew for both days of Ivies weekend. In order to incentivize students to serve as E-hosts, BSG has decided to pay E-hosts present for both days of Ivies events $40, with an additional $5 for each friend they recruit. BSG also plans to relieve E-hosts of the cleanup burden by recruiting the men’s hockey team to take on the responsibility in exchange for paying for the team’s Ivies shirts.

“Historically, men’s hockey has truly been the last group [at Ivies events], and we can rely on them to be there,” BSG Vice President Harper Stevenson ’27 said.

After this discussion, BSG voted to approve the cleanup plan for the men’s hockey team.
