Weather fit for a polar bear

February 6, 2026

Nor’easter: An extratropical storm, usually found in coastal New England and Atlantic Canada, whose winds usually come from the northeast. These titanic storms are a staple of New England living: the dream of schoolchildren and the nightmare of adults who need to get to work. The winter storm creates scenes of rare beauty, Boreas swirling his snowflakes in mesmerizing patterns, lit by the glow of the streetlamps. In the morning, we must put our noses to the grindstone, and shovels to the ground to excavate our lives. Thus are the rhythms of life in the snowy reaches of the North.
