Highlight Reel for October 24

SENIOR WEEKEND SUCCESS

The volleyball team (12–8; 4–4 NESCAC) played three home matches last weekend. After dropping the first match 3–1 to Bates College (10–8; 3–6 NESCAC), the team came back strong to beat Tufts University (16–4; 6–3 NESCAC) and Maine Maritime Academy (15–7). Against Tufts, right-side hitter Alison Smith ’28 led the team with 16 kills, while setter Cameron Shelly ’27 recorded 45 assists. The team served 11 aces in the match. Against Maine Maritime, outside hitter Mina Mittler ’26 notched 11 kills and two aces, and middle blocker Hannah Woolley ’28 added eight kills and two blocks. The team has three matches left in its regular season, the first today at Wellesley College (9–9).

DOWN GO THE BOBCATS

On Tuesday night, the women’s soccer team (10–3–0; 5–3–0 NESCAC) defeated Bates College (4–6–3; 0–6–2 NESCAC) 3–0. The Polar Bears got the scoring started just over ten minutes into the contest when Kayley Huleatt ’28 crossed the ball to Mary Rainey ’27 for her third goal of the season. In the 37th minute, Kendall Hacker ’29 sent a corner kick from the left side into the crease, and Kyra Hacker ’26 headed the ball into the back of the net. Just before half, the sisters ran it back, scoring on the same play to put the team up 3–0. The team will play its last home game of the regular season on Saturday against Amherst College (8–3–2; 3–3–2 NESCAC) at noon.

NON-CONFERENCE SWEEP

After beating Wesleyan University (8–3–2; 5–1–2 NESCAC) 1–0 last Saturday, the men’s soccer team (9–2–2; 4–2–2 NESCAC) traveled to play Endicott College (7–7–2) on Sunday and walked away with a 3–0 win. Just before the first half ended, Tyler Huck ’26 drove a ball towards the back post, Jack Banks ’27 headed it back towards the middle, finding Liam Myers ’28 who headed the ball into the goal. Huck scored on a header himself from a feed by Alden Mehta ’27, making the score 2–0. Felipe Rueda Duran ’26 sunk a penalty shot with two minutes left in the game to secure the win. The team won all five of its non-conference games this season and will return to the pitch tomorrow versus Amherst College (7–3–3; 3–3–2 NESCAC) at noon.
