FIELDING THE MVPS
The men’s track and field team finished the Maine State Meet with a total of 197 points, finishing in second place behind Bates College with 206 points. On the field, Kane Demers ’26 was named the Field MVP after winning the long jump with a distance of 6.85m and the triple jump of 13.94m. Ian Stebbins ’25 placed second in the pole vault with 4.75m, and Omar Frostman ’27 grabbed second in the long jump, right after Demers, jumping a distance of 13.75m. For track, Will Goddard ’25 took the Track MVP by winning the mile run and breaking the Farley Field House record in 4:11.53. Goddard also secured a first-place finish in the 3000m with 8:37.94. Bowdoin also won the 4×400 relay event, with a squad comprised of Ronan O’Flaherty ’27, Jonas Varnas ’27, Joseph Phillips ’28 and Adepoju Arogundade ’25, with a time of 3:25.25.
TIME TO SWIM
This past Saturday, the men’s swimming and diving team hosted the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin tuneup meet at Greason Pool. While the team lost against both Colby College and Bates College, several swimmers posted impressive individual results with only two weeks leading up to the NESCAC championship. Alex Grand’Pierre ’25 was the only Polar Bear to win his event, finishing the 100m breaststroke with a time of 55.65. In a slew of second places, Liam Roehr ’25 finished the 100m breaststroke with a 50.03 and Phil Bianco ’27 finished the 500m free and 1000m free with times of 4:47.22 and 9:54.45, respectively. Finally, Dylan Zhang ’26 took second in the 200m IM with a time of 1:52.67. The men’s team will compete in the NESCAC championship hosted at Middlebury College next weekend.
RACKING IN AT NESCACS
The women’s swimming and diving team is currently competing in the NESCAC championship, aiming to improve on its seventh place finish from last year. Natalie Garre ’28 entered the meet with top times in the NESCAC in the 1000m freestyle with a time of 10:01.54 and the 500m freestyle with 4:48.54. She also holds among the best times this season in the 400m IM, 200m IM and the 200m backstroke. Elizabeth Walsh ’26 also currently holds the second-best time in the conference for the 200m IM. As for the divers, Sadie Smith ’25, who won the 3m dive at the NESCAC championship in 2022, looks to reclaim her title.
