Class of 2029 application numbers reach record high

February 14, 2025

Shihab Moral

On February 7, the Office of Admissions released Early Decision II admissions results, completing the Early Decision rounds for the Class of 2029. Including Regular Decision applications, the College collectively received over 14,000 applications for the Class of 2029—the highest number of applications in the College’s history. These numbers continue the trend of increasing applications observed over the past three years.

The number of applications increased by about 6 percent this year, a modest increase compared to the 20 percent jump in applicants seen last year with the Class of 2028. The Office of Admissions received around 2,000 applicants in both Early Decision rounds, of which 296 students were offered admission—constituting an increased acceptance rate of 14.8% for Early Decision applicants. Additionally, 25 students were admitted through the QuestBridge National College Match. The number of both Early Decision and QuestBridge applicants accepted increased this admissions cycle.

In an email to the Orient, Senior Vice President and Dean of Admissions and Student Aid Claudia Marroquin ’06 shared her perspective on the admissions process this year.

“I’m excited by the students who have been admitted and incredibly humbled by the remarkable strength of the applicants we have in our pool,” she wrote. “Every round of decisions thus far has been difficult, and I know that will continue to be true as we continue to enter the next phase of our process.”

The Regular Decision results for the Class of 2029 will be released in mid-March, bringing the year’s application process to a close.
