Thanks to the strong play of captain Mark Flibotte '12, the men's lacrosse team built up a five-game winning streak before falling to Bates on Wednesday.

A midfielder from Cohasset, Mass., Flibotte led the Polar Bears to victories over conference rivals Middlebury and Williams last weekend.

After never having scored more than 14 goals in a season in his first three years at Bowdoin, Flibotte scored 14 in just nine days during the recent winning streak. He was named NESCAC Player of the Week for his accomplishments.

Flibotte is leading Bowdoin with 22 points through eight games. His 19 goals are third in the conference.

"Mark had a terrific week, has been playing great, and has been having some terrific success," wrote Head Coach Tom McCabe in an email to the Orient.

Bowdoin will need Flibotte to rebound after he was held scoreless against Bates. The team prepares to face first-ranked Trinity, a team undefeated in the NESCAC, tomorrow.

The sports editor of the Orient chooses the Athlete of the Week based on exemplary performance.
