The men's indoor track team had a record-setting weekend at the Valentine's Invitational at Boston University.

The distance medley relay team, consisting of Coby Horowitz '14, Matt Gamache '13, Colin Fong '12, and captain Matt Hillard '12, posted the fastest time in D-III (9:49.27) to shatter the school record by over 11 seconds.

Hillard also broke the school record in the 1000 meters, running a 2:28.57.

"We all just went in with a lot of confidence and looking to have fun, and we did just that," said Fong. "We all boost each other when we run well. It's very exciting being ranked at the top, but it won't mean anything unless we can back it up with more wins."

"We are very optimistic about the rest of the season," said Hillard. "We are hoping to place well as a team at New England D-IIIs and then run some fast individual times at Open New Englands."

"Although we're not peaking yet, the team looks very strong and very competitive for the top places at the national races in March," said Head Coach Peter Slovenski.

According to Gamache, the team can accomplish its goals if the group can avoid injury and sickness.

"I am just hoping that we all stay healthy; if we are all feeling good I believe we have what it takes," said Gamache.

Today, the team is competing in the New England D-III championships. The men have placed fifth for the past two years.

"We're hoping to improve on what we did last year to make the top five," said Slovenski. "We'll be seeded No. 4 or 5 as a team, and it will take a great day to finish in the top three. We have a lot of exciting competitors who will try to move up in the scoring places."
