Against Bates on Friday, the women's squash team suffered an unfortunate 7-2 defeat, with just Rachel Barnes '15 and Christiana Whitcomb '14 winning their matches.

The next day, however, Bowdoin beat Colby by a 5-4 score to cap off its season an even 12-12. Whitcomb, along with Alden Drake '15, Elizabeth Schetman '13, Sara Wlodarczyk '15, and Gretchen Williams '14 earned points.

Captain Bonnie Cao '13 said that the match against Colby was more representative of Bowdoin's level of play than the Bates match.

"People were nervous during the Bates match, not hitting shots that they usually hit, but during the Colby game we started relaxing more and playing our game," she said.

The squash team is now looking ahead to the national team championships, held at Harvard on February 24.

Although the team finished with a record of 12-12, the postseason represents a fresh start.

When asked what seed her team received for the playoffs, Cao responded, "we'll find out, we will end up playing with seven other teams in our division."
