The Departments of Music, Film Studies, and Theatre and Dance will be sponsoring the documentary, "In Good Time: The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland," next Tuesday.
After immigrating from England to the United States in 1948, McPartland went on to establish herself as one of the most influential jazz pianists in the country at a time when the industry was largely dominated by men.
"In Good Time" was the runner-up to the "Audience Favorite Film" award at the Maine International Film Festival in July.
Delmar Small, the music department's concert, budget and equipment manager, noted that it has been several years since the music department last sponsored a screening.
"Her music is very listenable... It appeals to a broad audience," he added.
"In Good Time" will be presented at 7 p.m. in Smith Auditorium in Sills Hall.
