At last weekend's Williams Invitational, the men's golf team finished eighth out of 18 teams.
"We had our best showing in many years at the Williams Invitational, which has the strongest field of teams we see each year," wrote Head Coach Tomas Fortson in an email to the Orient.
The Polar Bears finished with a two-day team score of 635 (315-320). Bobby Kaminski '14 turned in another excellent performance, as did captain Johnny Bohorquez '13. Both shot a combined 156 to finish tied for 26th place overall.
Sophomores Daniel Green (84-81-165) and Thomas Lilly (84-85-169) finished in 67th and 76th place, respectively, while Scott Mahoney '14 had the best Bowdoin round on Sunday, finishing 80-78 (158) in a tie for 36th place.??
The Polar Bears play again this weekend at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier, hosted by Wesleyan, at Lyman Orchards Golf Club in Connecticut. The top four finishers in that tournament will battle it out for the NESCAC title next spring.
"The guys have committed to improving throughout our short season and are accomplishing it," wrote Fortson. "A couple of our players reached a new level of play in competition and we are hoping to peak collectively at NESCACc."
"The physical abilities of our players are significant," Fortson continued, "and our focus for NESCACs is on executing around the green, improving our decision making and learning to stay balanced emotionally."
