As the only D-III school in a field of D-I and D-II teams, the women's tennis team posted good results and picked up several wins at the Eastern Championship last weekend, held at West Point.

The doubles team of Chantalle Lavertu '13 and Emma Lewis '14 reached the semifinals in the A-Division doubles bracket. They defeated Seton Hall, 8-3, and Army, 8-5, but lost 8-6 to the second-seeded Quinnipiac. Emma Chow '15 and captain Hannah Hoerner '12 advanced to the second round of their B-Division doubles bracket.

In A-Division singles play, captain Kellen Alberstone '13 defeated a Seton Hall player to reach the quarterfinals, while Kate Winingham '14 and captain Emily Lombardi '12 advanced to the second rounds of the B- and C-Divisions, respectively, after first-round wins.

"It is always fun to play schools outside of the NESCAC in the fall season," said Lavertu. "The quality of competition at West Point is high and it is a great opportunity to play D-I teams."

The team has two more weekends of fall play before the majority of its matches happen in the spring.
