The American Cancer Society will come to the College as part of the 6th annual Relay for Life fundraiser. A sea of purple-clad students, staff and faculty from the College are expected to gather for 12 hours to raise money for cancer research.
The overnight event, which begins at 6 p.m. and will continue through the night and early morning, anticipates more than 463 participants. As of press time, the organizers had raised more than $26,000.
This year, Relay for Life hopes to raise more than $60,000 to combat cancer, fund research and honor friends, family and survivors affected by cancer.
The top fundraising teams this year include the women's soccer, women's field hockey and men's basketball teams, who have raised approximately $10,000 in pledges for the event.
This evening's schedule will also include numerous events, such as a ping-pong tournament, a pie-eating contest and a dodgeball tournament that will start at 2 a.m.
