Following The Morning Benders concert tomorrow night, the popular mash up artist E-603 will perform at Reed House's space-themed party from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.

The party will mark E-603's third consecutive year playing at Reed.

Edward Gottfried '11 explained the artist's connection with Reed.

"My sophomore year I was in Reed House... We wanted to do something different than just a normal party, and my best friend from home was really good friends with him [E-603] at Hampshire [College], so I had heard his stuff," he said. "I got his e-mail address and invited him and he came."

E-603, or Ethan Ward, is a mashup artist originally from Nashua, New Hampshire.

As he has achieved increased visibility and success, he has remained true to his roots: 603 is the area code for all of New Hampshire.

Ward currently lives in New York making and producing music when he is not performing.

His music is often compared to that of Girl Talk. In fact, on his MySpace page, he lists Girl Talk, A-Trak, Easter Egg, Them Jeans and OCDJ as significant influences.

His masterfully rendered and playful mashups use samples from a diverse group of artists including Wheatus, Cassidy, Dr. Dre, Modest Mouse and Tokyo Police Club.

Last year, E-603 was considered for an early act as part of Ivies.

"He is a pretty big name in the DJ/mash up scene, so it is pretty cool that he is still willing to play a house party," said Gottfried.

In the same spirit of accessibility, both of E-603's self produced albums, "Something for Everyone" (2008) and "Torn Up" (2009) are available for download on his website www.e-603.com.
