After struggling at the NESCAC Qualifier earlier this month, the men's golf team traveled to the Crumpin-Fox Golf Club in Bernardston, Mass., last weekend to take on a familiarly challenging field at the first-ever NESCAC Match Play Championship. The team finished fifth out of six teams competing.

The tournament began for the Polar Bears on Saturday in a round against Middlebury and Trinity, which they lost 15-3 and 14.5-3.5, respectively. Scores were tallied on an individual basis, as each competitor could score one point for the front nine, back nine and the match as a whole, making for a total of three possible points per golfer.

In the Consolation Pool against Amherst and Wesleyan on Sunday, Bowdoin received strong performances from Johnny Bohorquez '13 and Scott Mahoney '13, who both carded an 81. Turner Kufe '11 also shot a solid round of 85 to help the team finish ahead Wesleyan.

Overall, the team shot 348 and 336 on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, for a total weekend score of 684. Williams took first place by carding a 633.

Last weekend marked the final competition of the fall for the Polar Bears. After taking a break for the winter, the team's schedule will resume again in March.
