The sun kept shining on the men's lacrosse team as it continued its recent dominance with a win over Williams last Saturday. Now, the team faces a game at Tufts tonight and the approaching first round of the NESCAC Tournament.

"We're playing well right now and have a good chance at getting a home game in the NESCAC tournament," said sophomore defenseman Matthew Egan. "The important thing is to maintain this level of focus because the games are only going to get tougher this time of year."

Led by a strong defense and controlled offense, Bowdoin raced out to an early lead, scoring the first of seven goals of the game. Fluid ball movement and some sparkling displays of individual athleticism gave the Polar Bears the offensive spark they have been missing in recent weeks.

"We weren't as patient in waiting for our shots and that led to some rough offensive performances," sophomore forward Nate Fritts said. "We moved the ball very well against Williams and really got everyone involved."

After the dominant first-half showing, Billy Bergner '13 ensured the Ephs would remain a comfortable distance behind the home team, scoring three of Bowdoin's five second-half goals.

A 37-27 ground ball advantage helped keep Bowdoin in control of the game along with some timely saves from Bowdoin netminder Chris Williamson '12.

"Our defense was really solid today and they really did a good job of clearing," Williamson said. "They forced Williams into some bad shots and the ones they did get on target I was able to get a pretty good read on."

Williamson finished the day with 13 saves, while eight different Bowdoin players tallied goals.

The win improved the team's record to 8-5 (5-3 NESCAC) and guaranteed a Bowdoin home game this Sunday.
