Pastel artist Wendy Edwards speaks on her art and the BCMA

Pastel artist Wendy Edwards visited the Bowdoin College Museum of Art (BCMA) on Wednesday afternoon to speak on the exhibit “Powdered Pigments: Three Centuries of Pastel Drawings” currently on display. The exhibit features more than 30 pieces from the Museum’s collection, showcasing over 300 years of the innovative use of oil pastels.

Horowitz speaks on experience in Holocaust

To mark Holocaust Remembrance Day, Bowdoin Hillel and the Departments of English and History co-hosted a lecture and discussion with Holocaust survivor Rudolph “Rudy” Horowitz on Thursday, April 28 in Lancaster Lounge. During his lecture, Horowitz, 93, discussed his memoir, “Avoiding the Cracks,” which details his story of survival during World War II and his life after the Holocaust.

On Thursday, April 7, Hawthorne-Longfellow Library (H-L Library) hosted the final installment of its book launch and discussion series with Assistant Professor of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies Angel Matos in the Nixon Lounge. Matos co-edited Media Crossroads: Intersections of Space and Identity in Screen Cultures with Pamela Robertson Wojcik and Paula Massood.

First of eight-week workshop centering around teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh

On Thursday, the Center for Religious and Multicultural Life and student club Mindfulness Over Matter began an eight-week program focusing on the teachings of Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh. Although conceptualized over the course of the fall semester, the workshop now comes in the wake of Thich Nhat Hanh’s death, who passed on January 22nd.

Andrew Lardie leaves McKeen Center

After eight years as the Joseph McKeen Center for the Common Good’s Associate Director for Service and Leadership, Andrew Lardie has departed the College to take on a role at the Brunswick School District. Since coming to Bowdoin in 2013, Lardie has worked on numerous programs at the McKeen Center, from Alternative Break Trips to his passion project, Bowdoin Votes.
