Highlight Reel for November 21

November 20, 2025

NATTYS TIME

Following the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships, the women’s cross country team qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship race in Spartanburg, S.C. The team finished fifth out of 30 teams in the 6k race, led by first-year standout Laura White ’29, who came in sixth place with a time of 21:41 to earn All-Region honors. Angelina Hickey ’28 and Kaylee Hale ’28 came in 36th and 38th place to boost the team’s score, which was low enough to earn the Polar Bears an at-large bid in the championship. Bowdoin is one of 22 teams and one of four NESCACs. The race begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow.

STRONG START

Last Friday, the women’s basketball team (2–0; 0–0 NESCAC) began its season on the road versus Gordon College (0–3), with a 81–44 win. After briefly trailing in the first few minutes, the team went on a 17–3 run led by Melissa Leone ’27 and Grace Kinum ’28. The Polar Bears held Gordon to four points in the second quarter, and expanded its lead throughout the rest of the game. The team scored 39 points off of 23 Gordon turnovers. On Saturday, the Polar Bears’s defensive strength again dominated, not allowing the University of Saint Joseph (0–2) to score for almost 18 minutes of play. On offense, the team shot 46 percent from the field to win 66–25. The team will travel to play at Skidmore College (1–1) tomorrow at 1 p.m.

MIDWEEK WIN

Coming off a loss in a down-to-the-wire game versus Brandeis University (2–2) on Sunday, the men’s basketball team (2–1; 0–0 NESCAC) defeated the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) (2–2) 83–74 on Wednesday evening. Guard Ray Cuevas ’28 led the way for the Polar Bears with 29 points and eight rebounds, followed by guard Jackson Bleecker ’28 with 18 points and eight rebounds. The team shot 44 percent from the floor while holding UMF to 38 percent, and the team had eight steals that led to 13 points. The Polar Bears will have three games over the Thanksgiving break, including a home game tonight at 7 p.m. against the University of Massachusetts Boston (1–3).
