WEATHERING THE NOR’EASTERS

The softball team (17–17; 4–10 NESCAC) won both games of its Tuesday night doubleheader against the University of New England (UNE) (10–26). The first game started off with four runs, two of which came off a Chloe Garcia ’26 triple to right-center field. The game ended after the fifth inning due to a mercy rule. In the second game, UNE scored the first run of the game, but the Polar Bears quickly plated five runs to retake and maintain the lead. Anika Ewert ’26 went 6–7 in the doubleheader, scoring four of the Polar Bears’ seven runs. The team will play Hamilton College today (15–13; 6–8 NESCAC) and will finish the regular season tomorrow versus Trinity College (9–22; 3–13 NESCAC).

SHUT UP AND SHUTOUT

On Wednesday evening, the baseball team (24–9; 7–5 NESCAC) shut out the University of Maine-Farmington (9–23) 17–0 in its last regular season game of the year. In the first inning, the Polar Bears took three runs and by the second inning, the team was up by seven. Jeremiah Chessie ’28 pitched the first two innings allowing a single walk and one strikeout, while Baker Olin ’24 and Sam Almy ’28 each pitched for one inning, both allowing two strikeouts. During the contest, Lukas Tsai ’26 had three RBI and Chris Dirks ’25, Conor Moriarty ’28 and Reuben Siegel ’27 recorded two each. The team hosts the first round of the NESCAC tournament in a doubleheader against Williams College (18–13; 7–5 NESCAC) tomorrow at noon and 2:30 p.m.

COURTING AT NESCACS

The women’s tennis team (14–4; 8–2 NESCAC) competed in its last two regular season matches over the weekend. The Polar Bears won the doubles point against Bates College (5–14; 3–7 NESCAC) thanks to duos Jamilah Karah ’25 and Candice Ballarin ’25 and Bella Hartung ’28 and Zoe Sun ’27. The team won all the singles matches with Suzanne Pogorelec ’28 taking number two, Karah taking three and Julia Ross ’27 taking number four. The team faced Tufts University (15–5; 6–4 NESCAC) the next day with a crucial doubles win by Karah and Caroline Stuhlfaut ’27. In singles play, Hung took number one, Pogorelec took two and Karah took three with a perfect match. The team will play Williams College (8–8; 4–6 NESCAC) in the first round of the NESCAC tournament this weekend.
