Highlight Reel for April 11

TRIO OF TRACKS

The track and field team split up to head to three different meets: the Regis Spring Invitational at Regis College, the Dooley Invitational at Emory University and the Tymann Invitational hosted by Gordon College. At the Regis Invitational, Charlie Aucoin ’27 won the men’s discus, throwing a 45.16m. Down at the Dooley Invitational, Charlotte Hodge ’25 broke her own school record with a 3.90m on the pole vault, finishing second at the invitational and landing in sixth in the DIII rankings. Adepoju Arogundade ’25 also posted a season-best time of 53.80 in the 400m hurdles, securing his spot on the DIII leaderboard in ninth. Finally, in a slew of wins at Gordon, nine individuals won their respective events while both the men’s and women’s relay teams also took the top spot on the podium.

NO IFS, ANDS OR PUTTS

The men’s golf team placed eighth at the Trinity College Spring Invitational at the Tumble Brook Country Club last weekend. The Polar Bears tied with Bates College with a two day total of 623. Andrew Flynn ’27 led the team, placing 14th individually with a 79–73–152 and was closely followed by Henry Mariscal ’28, who posted a 76–77–153. To round out the team, Joey Zheng ’27 shot 78–79–157, Ian Harris ’27 took an 80–78–158 and Oscar Wen ’25 posted a 83–78–161. Tomorrow the team plays in the Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore College at the Ballston Spa Country Club in New York.

KEEP CALM AND CRADLE ON

On Wednesday evening, the men’s lacrosse team (10–1; 6–1 NESCAC) defeated Colby (3–7; 0–7 NESCAC) 15–5 with a strong defensive lineup. Goaltender Robert Hobbs ’25 made 11 saves throughout his 56 minutes in the net. Nico Schermer ’27 forced two turnovers and had two ground balls, while Jed Hoggard ’25 had four ground balls. Schermer and Hoggard led the team defensively as the Polar Bears ended the contest with 21 forced turnovers in total. Jason Lach ’25 and Patrick Fitzgerald ’25 led the team in scoring with three and four goals, respectively.  Cam Wietfeldt ’27 won 12 of the 18 faceoffs against the Mules. Tomorrow, the team heads to New York to face Williams College for a 12 p.m. faceoff.
