Highlight Reel for March 29

NET WORTH

The women’s tennis team returned from its California trip over spring break with a 4–4 record (1–0 NESCAC). The team started off with an 8–1 win over Chapman University (3–5), sweeping doubles play and winning singles matches two through six, led by captains Lizzy Yu ’24 and Hannah Buckhout ’24. Its second spring break win was a 6–3 victory against 12th-ranked Babson College (6–1). The duos of Cara Hung ’26/Zoe Sun ’27 and Caroline Stuhlfaut ’27/Buckhout won their doubles matches. Yu, Julia DeLuca ’25 and Julia Ross ’27 all took three-set wins in singles. The team will play Hamilton College (3–2; 1–1 NESCAC) on April 6.

TOO POOL FOR SCHOOL

Nine Bowdoin swimmers traveled to Greensboro, N.C. from March 20 to 23 to compete in the NCAA DIII Swimming and Diving Championships. Tatum Zupnik ’24 earned All-American honors and set a new school record with a seventh-place finish in the 50 freestyle (23.02). She also set a personal record in the 100 butterfly (56.46) and 100 freestyle (51.41). Alex Grand’Pierre ’25 also collected All-American honors with a fifth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke (53.50), breaking his own school record. Bowdoin’s 400 free (3:00:69) and 400 medley (3:18:20) relays both qualified for the consolation finals, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively.

STAYING CURRENT

Over spring break, the sailing team started its spring season at the Sunshine City Team Race in Florida with teams from Bowdoin placing first and fourth. The women’s team also competed at the Duplin Trophy, hosted by Harvard University, last weekend. Christine Reimer ’24, Kyra Phelan ’26, Lauren Russler ’26, Holliss Hirsch ’25, Lulu Louchheim ’25, Katie Kurtz ’24, Becca Schill ’27 and Maizie Bartlett ’27 all competed for the Polar Bears, placing eighth overall with a 4–8 record. This weekend, the team will compete in the Dellenbaugh Trophy hosted by Brown University, the Staake hosted by Bowdoin and the Boston University Fleet Race.
