Highlight Reel for February 6

LAST MINUTE SURGE

Last Friday, the men’s basketball team (13–7; 3–3 NESCAC) scored eight points in the last 31 seconds to beat Hamilton College (5–15; 1–5 NESCAC) 69–68. Hamilton had a seven-point lead with 1:31 on the clock before Kevin Reeves ’26 threw down a dunk. Alex Halpern ’26 immediately stole the inbounds pass, leading to a Ray Cuevas ’28 three-pointer to make it 66–68. Like déjà vu, Mason Dawkins ’29 stole the next inbound and passed it to Cuevas, who knocked down all three free throws to give the Polar Bears a one-point advantage. After a timeout, Hamilton missed a last-second shot. The team will return to Morrell Gymnasium tonight at 7 p.m. against Middlebury College (7–12; 1–5 NESCAC).

BATTLE TESTED

Last Saturday, the men’s squash team (5–8; 3–5 NESCAC) earned an important non-conference win over St. Lawrence University (3–7). Oliver Pride ’29 got the team on the board with a 3–0 win at the eighth seed, and Aryan Singh ’26 won at the third seed 3–1. Will Maschler ’28 played a marathon match, dropping the fifth game 13–15 to make the overall team score 2–1. Sachith Vissapragada ’28 and Ben Korengold ’27 won their matches at the seventh and ninth seeds, respectively, and Liam Waldron ’29 earned the winning match for the team at the second seed. The overall score was 6–3 in favor of the Polar Bears. The team plays Bates College (4–7; 2–4 NESCAC) at 6 p.m. today and will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday against Colby College (5–6; 2–3 NESCAC) at 1 p.m.

HOME STRETCH

Last Saturday, the women’s squash team (6–7; 3–5 NESCAC) comfortably took down St. Lawrence University (6–4) by a score of 8–1. In the first set of matches, Clare Collins ’27 and Mira Karande ’26 cruised to 3–0 wins, while Kira Gwadry ’28 won a competitive 3–1 match at the third seed. Amelie Matuch ’28, Cory Spiegel ’29 and Ame Hamrahi ’29 also earned 3–0 wins. On the top court, Darcy Weber ’26 had a back-and-forth match, ultimately losing 1–3. Eshika Tangri ’27 closed it out for the Polar Bears with a 3–2 win. The team plays Bates College (4–5; 1–5 NESCAC) at 6 p.m. today and will celebrate Senior Day on Sunday versus Colby College (4–6; 2–3 NESCAC) at 1 p.m.
