September 19, 2025

MILESTONE WIN

On Wednesday night, the field hockey team (5–0; 2–0 NESCAC) shut out Wellesley College (1–4) 3–0. The win marked Head Coach Nicky Pearson’s 400th victory as the coach of the field hockey program, only the tenth DIII coach to reach this milestone. All three goals for the Polar Bears came in the first quarter. Emily Ferguson ’27 knocked in a no-look shot five minutes into the game, followed by a Hannah Belmelli ’28 goal, assisted by Clara Noyes ’27, just one minute later. Ferguson then scored her second of the night to put the game out of reach. The team plays next at home on September 23 at 7 p.m. versus Bates College (5–0; 1–0 NESCAC).

SCORING WITH EASE

Late Tuesday night, the women’s soccer team (3–1–0; 1–1–0 NESCAC) took down the University of Southern Maine (USM) Huskies (3–3–0) with a score of 5–2. 18 minutes into the contest, Catherine Webster ’29 scored her second goal of the season off a feed from Stephanie Christianson ’26. After USM tied the game, Kayley Huleatt ’28 regained the lead for the Polar Bears. She added another goal in the second half, as well as assisting Webster on her second of the night. The team has the weekend off and will play Husson University (3–2) next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

For singles, Marie Frati ’28 was a semifinalist in the main draw, and Hartung was a finalist in the consolation draw.
