Highlight Reel for September 5

LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN

On Wednesday night, the field hockey team (1–0; 0–0 NESCAC) dominated against the University of New England (UNE) (1–2), winning 7–0. The Polar Bears kicked off the scoring with Andrea Diteodoro ’26 and spread the wealth with four unique goal scorers, led by Hannah Balmelli ’28 with three. Fei Yang-Sady ’29 netted her first collegiate goal in the fourth quarter to extend the team’s lead. The Polar Bears will travel up to Waterville to face Colby College (0–0; 0–0 NESCAC) tomorrow at noon.

GOAL ORIENTED

In its season opener against Thomas College (0–3–0), the women’s soccer team (1–0–0; 0–0–0 NESCAC) lit up the scoreboard, winning by a final score of 9–1. Mary Rainey ’27 got the party started with a goal just over a minute into the game, with the Polar Bears then adding three more before the 12-minute-mark of the first half. Catherine Webster ’29 and Sienna Masood ’28 notched their first collegiate goals and Rylie McLaren ’26 racked up the score with two goals of her own. The team will play their first conference game at Colby College (0–0–0; 0–0–0 NESCAC) tomorrow afternoon.

TOP FOUR IN THE NATION

Last May, the men’s lacrosse team (16–4; 8–2 NESCAC) concluded its postseason with a 26–11 loss versus Tufts University (21–0; 10–0 NESCAC) in the semifinals of the NCAA Division III tournament. The 2025 campaign was an overall success, with the Polar Bears advancing to the semifinals in both the NESCAC and NCAA tournaments.
