Spring visual and performing arts forecast

Oh Boy! From WBOR’s Spring Concert featuring Boyscott and Adi Oasis to performances by the Bowdoin Symphony Orchestra, May will bring harmony and humor in droves. Check out the semester’s remaining visual and performing arts events below.

May 2 at 4:30 p.m. and May 4 at 3 p.m.: Bowdoin Chamber Choir in the Chapel

The Bowdoin Chamber Choir will perform a collection of works by living composers, including a rendition by B.E. Boykin of the work of Maine poet laureate Stuart Kestenbaum.

May 2 at 7 p.m.: Senior BOKA concert in the Chapel

May 2 at 9 p.m.: WBOR Spring Concert on Baxter House steps

For its final event of the semester, WBOR is hosting indie band Boyscott and French-Caribbean performer Adi Oasis. Boyscott begins with ethereal rock at 9 p.m.; Adi Oasis brings her blend of soul, funk and R&B to the stage at 10 p.m.

May 3 at 7:30 p.m.: Spring Dance Concert in Pickard Theater

Members of spring 2025 dance courses will perform their final show on Saturday to the works of Philip Glass, Igor Stravinsky, En Vogue and many others. Tickets may be reserved prior to the event.

May 2 and 4 at 3 p.m.: Masque & Gown performs “Little Women” on the museum steps

For its annual outdoor performance, Masque & Gown will bring Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth to life. Gelato Fiasco will be provided.

May 4 and 7 at 7:30 p.m.: Bowdoin Symphony Orchestra in Kanbar Auditorium

The Bowdoin Symphony Orchestra’s spring concert features select seniors’ final solos. Jimmy Song ’25 will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E Minor, and Brian Liu ’25 will perform Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The orchestra will also perform the Jurassic Park suite.

May 8 at 12 p.m.: Music at the Museum with Beckwith Artist-in-Residence George Lopez and Gulimina Mahamuti

May 8 at 3 p.m.: Meddiebempsters senior solos in the Chapel

May 9 at 5 p.m.: Spring visual arts exhibition in Edwards Center for Art and Dance

Students will display their sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and video from spring 2025 courses in this open house.

May 9 at 4:30 p.m.: English honors reading in the Massachusetts Hall Faculty Room

English honors students will read short excerpts from their year of compiled work in literary analysis and original composition.

May 9 at 8 p.m.: Purity Pact sketch show in Kresge Auditorium

The weekend of reading period starts with laughter served up by campus’s only sketch comedy group.

May 22: “Painted Time: Moons” exhibition in the Bowdoin College Museum of Art’s (BCMA) Zuckert Seminar Room

End the semester with a visit to the BCMA where Ann Craven’s moon paintings will be aglow. Displayed in a laboratory format, this exhibition will offer a close look at Craven’s style and artistic progression.
