BIGGER THAN A MAMMOTH
Last Sunday, the field hockey team (6–9; 3–7 NESCAC) won against Amherst College (9–6; 4–6 NESCAC), a team ranked sixth in the NESCAC, with an overtime goal scored by Maya Malenfant ’25. The Mammoths kicked off the second quarter of play with a lead, but Mackay Bommer ’26 scored the Polar Bears’ first goal of the game to even it up seven minutes into the third quarter with help from Clara Noyes ’27 through a tic-tac-toe passing sequence. Finally, Malenfant secured the victory four-and-a-half minutes into overtime. Lauren O’Donald ’26 also made nine saves for the team. Bowdoin heads to its last game of the season against Tufts University (13–2; 8–2 NESCAC) on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in Medford, Mass.
(QUARTER) FINALE(S)
The men’s soccer team (7–4–4; 2–4–4 NESCAC) concluded its regular season with a 2–2 tied game against Tufts University (11–0–4; 7–0–3 NESCAC), currently the top-ranked team in the NESCAC. The Polar Bears also earned the final spot in the NESCAC playoffs, seeded eighth overall. Against the Jumbos, Mateo Pacelli ’26 scored 60 minutes into play but was answered shortly thereafter by Tufts who netted the ball three minutes later. Ten minutes later, nearing the end of the second half, the Jumbos secured a lead 2–1. However, with just 2 minutes left in the game, Ronaldo Cabral ’25 shot a left corner kick to Luke Macaione ’25 who headed the ball into the net. Tufts held a 12–10 overall shot advantage, but Bowdoin maintained a 5–3 edge in shots on goal. Coming off the tie, the Polar Bears will head down to Boston on Saturday to play in the NESCAC quarterfinals against Tufts yet again.
