Artist Kristen Martincic will deliver a lecture about her printmaking, sculpture, and installations when she comes to campus next Thursday.

Assistant Professor of Art Carrie Scanga said those who attend will "learn about the medium of printmaking and get a window into how an artist thinks."

Martincic's prints are versatile and intriguing; many explore the implications of underwater environments.

Past works of Martincic include an intricately-constructed nylon swimming pool for her installation "Night Swimming" and monotypes of pin-striped women's bathing suits.

Martincic's website describes such articles of clothing as "a surrogate for the human form."

The artist's work has been presented at American University in Egypt, the India University Art Museum, and The Print Center in Philadelphia.

Martincic was invited to campus as part of this year's Marvin Bileck Printmaking Project, sponsored by the Marvin Bileck and Emily Nelligan Trust.

Her talk will take place at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the Beam Classroom, Visual Arts Center.
