The men's track team traveled to Durham, New Hampshire last Saturday to compete against local D-I schools. The team performed well and had three winners on the day: Matt Gamache '13 in the 400-meter dash, Coby Horowitz '14 in the 5000-meter run and Alex Lucyk '12 in the pole vault.

Gusty winds and low temperatures made for difficult competition conditions. Gamache struggled some getting out of the blocks, but by the last turn into the straightaway, he was firing on all cylinders and finished in 50.1 seconds. Senior Zach Winters snagged third at 52.2.

Lucyk timed his vaults well in between gusts of wind and wound up with the victory by clearing 4.00 meters. Eddy Page '13 finished second in the pole vault at 3.5 meters. Teammate Eliot Bass '14 cleared the same height but finished fourth due to misses.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Riker Wikoff '12 placed third and returned later to reach fifth in the long jump with a jump of 19 feet. Bass finished fourth with a jump of 19 feet and one inch.

Sam Chick '13 competed in the 400-meter hurdles and ran a strong time of 57.17. He also posted a runner-up finish in the triple jump.

Running the 3000-meter steeplechase, Sam Epstein '11 and Barrett Wood '12 posted times that qualified them for the NESCAC Championships.

They ran 10:27.42 and 10:50.77, respectively. In the longer discipline, Horowitz opened up some daylight on the last lap and won the 5K in 15:21.15.

Teammates Charles Berdahl '11, Marcus Schneider '13, Tim Anderson '11 and Mike Mitchell '11 ran strongly as well. In the men's 1500-meter, Matt Hillard '12 and Colin Ogilvie '12 finished eighth and ninth with times of 4:06.18 and 4:06.99, respectively.

This coming weekend, the men will travel to Bates to take on USM, Bates and Colby for the Maine State Championship.
